Sonia Kashuk Beautifying Sunset blush + some BIG news!!

For the longest time, I have always walked PAST the Sonia Kashuk display, because frankly, I thought it was a line of marked up drugstore make-up. Finally though, I actually took a closer look and much to my surprise, I was surprised! The color and packaging was pretty and simple (how I like it) so let's see how the blush itself did..shall we???

Product description from site:

  Price: $8.99

 <Look how thin mom!

The blush color is what got me interested as did the white sleek packaging. When I opened this beauty, I realized that the way it opens & closes, is magnetic! I love! No longer will I have to worry about "stuck" openers & having my finger nail "dig" into the product when it finally snaps open. I love love LOVE this about this blush.

On a side note, the plastic packaging feels sturdy but I doubt it wouldn't break if it was dropped. I bet the top would pop off and the blush would shatter..:(

When I first saw this, I was like hey, it almost looks duo-chrome like my favorite blush, Hot mama! When compared, they both have gold shimmer and peachy undertones, but nothing really else.

As you can see above, Hot mama is more pinky rose peach with gold shimmer, and sunset is more peachy/cantaloupe (<<perfect) with minimal gold shimmer.

Apply full base make-up with a light coat of face powder to make sure this blends out evenly. I dab my blush brush in & apply to the apples of my cheeks. I don't like applying bronzer or highlighter when applying such colorful blushes like these. The reason being, the color gets crossed and muted. I like being able to see the color that I applied, right on my cheeks and nothing else. I think this color would look amazing on darker sunkissed skin. I think this accents my skin tone very well. It is not blue toned (blue tones look beautfiul, but not so much on MY skin). On my lightly olive complexion, it warms me up and gives me a beautiful glow. Not glow as in yellow, but like the "sunset" is hitting my cheeks. I love it.
Usually when I get a new blusher, I always try and use it but end up reach for my go-to Hot mama blush. In this case though, I make sure my Hot-mama is in my make-up pouch just in case I want more of a pinky-glow & I reach for the sunset blush more and more, first.

Overall, Would I repurchase this blush, should it ever diminish or get lost? Yes & no. I would because the color is gorgeous and I love a nice coral peach. The question is COULD I repurchase it? She discontinues her products fairly often so even if I do end up using the whole blush, I don't know if I would be able to find it other than on ebay. That was one of the main gripes on Also the the pigmentation is not perfection. It is soft but not as soft as Hot mama, and is less pigmented than some of my NYX blushes (as in Red, Desert rose, etc.) Should you decide to try this blush if you are looking for a cantaloupe color blush, you will not be disappointed. It is a great buy and available at
Because of this blush, I am looking forward to next time I am at Target, to try out the lip products and nail polishes from Sonia Kashuk. The Vampy Varnish   has tons of her products for review. Just click on her name to be redirected.

I have some exciting news, (for me anyway).. I am going to the BIG APPLE/ CT for a wedding in a couple of weeks! It will be my first time ever! I am so excited because I seriously had dreams about NYC when I was in High school and I wanted to be a Fashion Designer, that I went to college at the F.I.T. If any of you watch Man vs. Food, you know he does tons of great food challenges in NYC. I'd love to visit one of the places that has the food challenges and have my husband be put to the test. LOL! He always claims to be able to do it better then Adam so to be able to do one would be cool. We have some challenges here in San Diego like Phils BBQ but the line is always extra long & I hate waiting in line that are hours long, just to eat!

I am shopping every weekend because I can't walk NYC looking unstylish, of course. <<To the left is the dress I'm going to be wearing to the wedding. Its be AXParis and they have some super cute and affordable dresses. My sister and I were just oggling the dresses after I placed my order. They have something for every one. I was scared I was gonna spend more than $200 on a dress but I found this one, and with shipping and tax came to be a little under $70. I just got it in the mail but it fits pretty big (size 10) so I am sending it back. I ordered a size 8, so hopefully it won't be too big. I really think I should got the size 6, but I have my fingers crossed. The beadwork on this piece is so delicate and the chiffon is so gorgeous. In person it looks like a 300 dollar dress. I still need to find jewelery & heels to match even though I have tons in my closet..;) The link to is HERE, which is where I bought it & their actual website is HERE. I encourage you to just browse about, you might find something you like! All you heel lovers out there, If you are looking for the hottest heels, go to the website! The only thing is, the sizes are not US sizes, so I have no idea how to order, or I would've ordered some already. There's a code for I believe 20% off and free shipping which is PENNSTATE.
(Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Ax Paris & I bought the dress with my own money)

If any of you know of any good food places to eat at that don't cost $100 dollars per plate, let me know. Also if any of you have any recommendations for the places to visit in the City, comment below! I'd love to hear them!

Do you own any Sonia Kashuk blushes or products that you love? Do you only stick to high end blushes?

theBalm, ESSIE, MAC, Maybelline + Personal events

I have been all about the neutral make-up lately. Whether individual eye shadows or palettes full of them, I can't get enough!
Recently I picked up theBalm's Nude tude palette (which is mainly neutrals) in order to do a comparison with the Stila in the light palette and Urban decay's NAKED palette. However, I thought I had placed an order with Urban decay but I guess it didn't go through, so I have to wait until I go to Sephora again.

To be completely honest, I really bought the Balmbini palette to try out the Strawberry and nude lip tints. They look so pretty. Never can get enough nudes!

Doesn't this palette look delicious!??? I love the entire right side.

I wanted to do a DIY nail-polish rack that I see all the time on Youtube. Just google it to see what I'm talking about. They are so cheap and cute, but I am scared to make it out of foam, seeing as nail-polishes aren't made out of the lightest material. They are glass, ya know.

Sneek peek picture of my upcoming review on this beauty. If you don't have it, check ebay. I got mine there.

Since I couldn't get the NAKED palette, I had to grab the dupe color that I wanted from its palette, which was Knight Divine. I really wanted to try Gunmetal, so I got this instead. Darkhorse looks promising too. :)

I went to Sephora and Gunmetal is def lighter and less smokey than Knight Divine. I like it still, but not as much as KD.

What I got:
theBalm Nude 'Tude palette
theBalm Balmbini Vol 2.
MAC Her blooming cheek
MAC Knight Divine
Hard Candy Sky
ESSIE Luxeeffects As gold as it gets
Maybelline color tattoo Audacious asphalt
ESSIE Mink muffs

I have found myself reaching for Knight Divine so often that I am thinking about buying a back-up.

Tons of things have been going on lately. My husband and I's anniversary just passed and we were able to go out to dinner & have a romantic time. I surprised him with cheesecake at the end of the meal. The waitresses came out carrying them and he was shocked. He said, "when did you plan this??" Lol, it was so funny to see his reaction.

Lol, my husbands buddy was saying he looked weird with this smile. :D

We also got our Family Easter pictures done and they came out so cute! My Olivia is such a ham!

I also have tons of hauls, because my husband spoils me rotten! I was able to get my wishlist item NARS Chelsea Girls lip lacquer, so expect a review soon. I absolutely love it, but I just wish it wasn't so dang tiny!

I feel like I have been kind of out of it lately. I am so super busy, getting ready for our visit to NYC and a wedding in CT. I have been searching for the perfect dress, working out like crazy, and dealing with my own personal health problems. I won't go into too much details, but I will explain a little. About a month ago I had a dull ache in the right upper abdominal area. It felt like contractions (I know, sounds crazy). I was throwing up all day, I had the chills and when I tried to lay down and go to sleep, the pain in my right side would not let up and let me sleep. I finally went to the ER where they drew blood and gave me pain meds. The doctor thought I had gallstones so he ordered me a ultrasound. I went to the ultrasound and I recently got a message from my doctor saying that my liver has replaced the liver tissue with fat, likely with being overweight when I was preggo. Basically the starting of something called NASH or Non-alcholic fatty liver disease. This is quite normal for a 30 or older person, that is obese, but I am not obese, and I am barely 22. This means I have to schedule a appointment with a hepatologist. It scared me so much to think I might have a disease that could kill my liver, and ultimately me if I don't take care of it at this early stage. I am still learning about this, so I don't know all the details yet. I just know I have to continue to workout and eat right. I might be MIA for a bit. I will be blogging still, but I have to focus alot more time and energy on things that need to be done. Just wanted to let you all know what's going on.

Also if anyone knows a good photo editing program that works well with Macbooks. Picnik just closed and I don't want to sign up for Google+ MonkeyPic. Any advice would be appreciated.
Talk to you guys soon. I have alot of posts but I need to edit the photos I took so that I can get them up soon. :)

NOTD: Combo of ESSIE Pink-a-boo & Ballet slippers!

When the ESSIE Resort 2012 collection launched, I figured I had to at least buy one. I mean, looking at these, it just makes my nails tingle! Such complimenting colors, I want them all on my nails, at once!
Seriously, whenever I paint my nails it takes forever to decided on what color to pick..I'm probably the most indecisive person you could meet.

In the collection there is Pink-A-Boo, Sure Shot, She's Picture Perfect & No More Film.
I chose Pink a boo because the blue glitter flecks, enticed me! It isn't your average creme pink. The blue glitter and shimmer in it give more dimension than you could imagine.
It is almost the exact same color as American Apparel Coney island, but with shimmers and glitters of perfection.

I have yet to find a outfit choice that doesn't go good with a pretty light pink color. My husband says it's blah. As in boring, But I think it's very sophisticated, feminine & pretty. Perfect for everyday life. Nothing that is too out there, but when people notice your nails, they say, hmm that's pretty. :) Plus, pastels are really in right now, and this is a more complicated color then just creme pink.

For this color, I used 3 coats of ESSIE Ballet slippers and two coats of Pink a boo on top. I used a base pink color because Pink a boo is very sheer and I probably would have had to apply 10 coats to get the same outcome as what I got with 3 coats of Ballet slippers.
You have no idea how long this took to dry. I didn't even want to put a top coat on it because it took SOOO long to dry. I believe about 2 hours, and still it was not completely dry. But I do have to note, I saw absolutely NO CHIPP-AGE in the first 7 days. That's pretty awesome, coming from me, because I usually see at least one chipped nail after 2 days.

I don't know if it's because of so many coats I used, but it almost looks like shrinkage on my nails. It might be also because the layer is so thick too though...

You can't really see tons of blue flecks, but they are there, I assure you.

One of the best combo's I've used in a while, and I will def try it again. Maybe not so many coats of ballet slippers or I'll try thinner coats.
Overall, a very big plus in color & quality from the ESSIE brand.

Have you tried ESSIE yet? DO you have any colors to recommend trying? Share it below!

April MyGlam beauty bag & Winner of my first giveaway!!

Back in November 2011, the MyGlam subscription sample service launched, to bring its customers beauty samples for only $10 dollars a month (yearly $110). I saw the first month's beauty bag and let's just say, I really wanted it. However, any new subscribers were not being taken and I had to sign up on the waitlist to be informed when they would open up.
I waited...and waited...and waited some more and finally got an email that they had spots available. I jumped on the computer and signed myself up.
I love how they give sneak peeks on facebook, of what the upcoming bag will be consisting of, unlike other subscription services. First sneak peak was lashes, then it was liner, last was the lipgloss.

I have wanted to try the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on eye pencil's because of the colors. has some great photos of the liners that make these irresistible. I got Junkie, which is a foresty green with hint of blue & lots of gold glitter. They are 0.03oz as opposed to the regular 0.04oz. These honestly make me think this would be the color of a mermaids tail (if mermaids existed). I really wanted to try woodstock but HEY, I'm not complaining!

Swatching was a delight, because of how smooth it glided on. I love the consistency. I will be purchasing more for sure!

When I saw that both of these would be included, I was thrilled! I love new brushes and the eyeliner pencil was meant just for me!
I just purchased NARS Chealsea girls and I was contemplating on not keeping it because of the small glass pot that it is in. I have longish nails now, and get product stuck under them is irritating. Now, I can use the liner brush as a lip applicator. These are made from pony hair and are pretty good quality. I would definitely buy from the MyGlam line.

All-Belle eyelashes were the first sneak peak and even though I barely use falsies, I am trying to do more looks and glam styles these days. These are perfect for a night out, or even if you never wear falsies, a costume add-on.

Last, but not least is the DermStore lip quench-Moisture Infused lip treatment. I love a good lipbalm and these are great! My staple lipbalm is Carmex, but the slight pink tint of these and super smooth balm-eyness if enough to make me forget my beloved Carmex...for awhile anyway...:)
I also liked that the bag it came in is reusable. I give all my small purses and bags to my daughter because she is 100 percent total girlie girl. Love bracelets, make-up, and my heels. LOL. So cute when she tries brushing blush on with my blusher brush. :)

Although I had to wait a while to get a subscription, it was worth it. All the girls out there who complained about the products being drugstore or cheap & who cancelled their subscription, I say, Thank you. I am very happy with MyGlam and hopefully they continue to send great products.

Although I am several days late in announcing the winner, with all due respect the winner is:

(winner was chosen through
Congrats! Look out for an email in the next couple of days and I should be getting it out ASAP!
Thank you all who entered! I appreciate the support and "love" you guys give. I would like to do another giveaway soon before I go to NY, so cross those fingers!!
I have been spoiled rotten this past week because of my anniversary with my husband. He is too sweet.  Some of the things he bought me were two Micheal Kors purses, Zales diamond earrings, clothes, and TONS of make-up. Thanks babe!
Hope you all are doing great and are enjoying your Monday!

Sedu Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment Review & Photos!

One of the main things (I believe) that make people, especially women, look great is having a great head of hair or even a great hair day. You know what I'm talking about...
Not only does your hair look great, but it makes you feel great. Even if you are having a bad day and are super tired. If you are standing in line at the Grocery store and someone spots you from behind, they can't tell your having an off day, because you hair is looking phenomenal!

I have waist long hair that I try and take care of because my husband loves long hair. With that being said, research has shown that men, subconsciously seek out women that have HEALTHY looking hair because it means they are healthy and can produce healthy offspring. Now, I'm not saying every time a man looks at your hair, he is thinking about making offspring with you, but there are facts that show that healthy looking anything is a plus when looking for a partner.

Picture from back in November 2011. Long length
Before I grew my hair this long, To be honest, I really didn't take care of my hair and let it do it's own thing. I colored it, put heat damage to it without heat protectants, and pulled out my split ends all the time. I finally decided enough was enough when my hair started to fall out and break off just by brushing it. I looked into heat protections, deep conditioners, frizz control, volumizers, you name it, I've tried it.

I have actually tried one other Moroccan oil that I had purchased at Sally's beauty supply but I forgot which brand it was by, as I had tried it a while back.  I can't even remember other oil product, so it just proves to me, that it was not a great product for me to begin with anyway because I can't even remember if it worked or not. I can't really compare the two so this is just a review on the Sedu Anti-frizz treatment.

The picture on the left is from December 2011, after a hair dye. I had to trim about 5 inches off because the ends were just FRIED.
